Dan strikes a winning streak with Megger!
Daniel Sanderson, a successful independent electrical contractor based in York, believes that there is one sure route to winning in the contracting business, and that’s to stick with Megger.
Daniel has good reasons for this belief – two years ago, as Apprentice of the Year at the JTL Training Centre in Malton, he won a Megger MFT1552 multifunction tester and now, in a recent national competition, he has repeated his success by winning the first prize of a Megger Business-in-a-Box PAT testing kit.
“Winning the Megger MFT1552 gave me a great start in my business,” said Daniel, “it covers all of my installation testing requirements, it’s easy to use and, over the last two years, it’s shown itself capable of standing up to all the rough treatment I’ve given it. And I’m not just saying all that because I got the tester for free – if I couldn’t depend on it, I wouldn’t use it.”
“I work for myself, so time very definitely is money, which means that for me, test kit that’s reliable and convenient to use is absolutely essential. My MFT1552 has never let me down – and the only thing I do to take care of it is to have it calibrated regularly. I find it very fast to use, and I particularly like the automatic RCD testing feature, which saves me a lot of time and shoe leather!”
Daniel is equally delighted with his success in winning the Business in a Box kit, which includes not only a high specification PAT tester complete with leads and software for organising and storing test results, but also comprehensive guidance on setting up and promoting a PAT testing business.
“This latest win has come at a very good time for me,” said Daniel, “as I was already planning to expand my business by starting to offer PAT testing services. It’s early days yet, but I’ve already found a few PAT testing clients and I’m now using the very useful support material supplied by Megger to look for more. Needless to say, I’ve been very satisfied with the PAT4 tester included in the Business-in-a-Box kit. It’s very versatile, and it just flies through the tests!”
The Megger MFT1552 multifunction tester used by Dan is one of the MFT1500 family of testers. These range from basic models to the top-of-the-range MFT1553 which offers Bluetooth communication facilities that allow the results to be loaded directly into test certificates using Megger’s PowerSuite software.
The PAT4 tester included in the Business-in-a-Box is also one of an extensive range of PAT testers available from Megger. These include economical testers for occasional users, models with integral flash testing facilities, and testers that are optimised for continuous high-volume use.
