MYDATA’S NEW STICK FEEDER REALLY IS ROCKET SCIENCE!

Increased productivity and reduced operating costs when using non-tape feed components with SMT printed circuit assembly machines are the key benefits of the new and innovative Agilis Stick feeders from MYDATA.
Based on an insightful and novel application of Newton’s Laws of Motion – the same laws that govern the functioning of rockets – Agilis Stick feeders completely eliminate the difficult adjustment, inconsistent operation and lack of control that are always associated with conventional vibratory stick feeders.

The new feeders, which are designed for use with MYDATA’s MY-series high-performance SMT machines, are driven by precision servomotors, instead of being built around the relatively crude electromagnetic vibrators used in older products. This allows precise control of the motion imparted to the feed table, which moves only in a horizontal plane.

The elimination of the vertical components of the motion ensures that, while the components move reliably out of the sticks, once they reach the picking area there is no tendency for them to vibrate or jump. They are, therefore, consistently available to the pick-and-place mechanism in the correct orientation.

The use of precision servo drives also allows the acceleration of the feed table to be controlled separately on the forward and reverse strokes. This exceptional control means that the Agilis Stick feeder can handle almost any size of component and that it gives dependable results, without adjustment, from the first component in a stick to the last.

Agilis Stick feeders require almost no operator set up. They determine component geometry from the machine operating software, and automatically optimise their operation to suit. This alone brings big savings in operator time and, since Agilis Stick feeders need no more attention than ordinary tape feeders, their potential for reducing operating costs is substantial.
